JAF’s Personal Information Protection Policy

Japan Automobile Federation’s (JAF) corporate philosophy is to provide auto users with services that promote safety and peace of mind, actively pursue business activities that support traffic safety and the environment, and contribute to the development of a sound society.

JAF views the protection of personal information as one of its most important issues in running its business, and has established a personal information protection policy as the conduct guidelines that all employees must respect. We strive to be aware of the importance of protecting personal information and to handle personal information appropriately to fulfill this responsibility.

JAF acquires, uses and provides personal information appropriately in light of the content and scale of its business.

JAF does not handle personal information in any way that goes beyond the necessary scope needed to achieve the stated purpose for use, and has taken measures to ensure that it is not used for any reason other than these purposes.

JAF does not provide personal information to third parties unless the individual’s permission has been obtained or it is based on laws and regulations.

JAF complies with laws and regulations on the handling of personal information, respects the guidelines established by the national government and other standards and runs its operations appropriately.

JAF sets up organizational, personal, physical and technical safety management measures to prevent the leak, loss or damage of personal information, and when remediation is necessary, promptly takes the necessary steps to correct this.

When personal information is entrusted to a service provider in full or in part, JAF provides the necessary and appropriate supervision to ensure that the entrusted personal information is managed safely.

JAF strives to address any complaints or inquiries concerning the handling of personal information appropriately and promptly.

JAF accepts requests for disclosure of the personal information targeted for disclosure and held by JAF if the individual requests this (notification of purpose of use, disclosure, corrections to content, additions or deletions, suspension of use, removal and suspension of provision to third parties).

JAF has established a management system for the protection of personal information based on Japanese Industrial Standard “Personal information protection management systems—Requirements” (JIS Q 15001) to ensure that it protects personal information appropriately. All employees comply with this system and JAF endeavors to maintain and improve this system on an ongoing basis.
