To apply for a translation of their driver’s license
【Regarding the Price Revision】
Translation issuance fees were revised on July 1, 2026.
For translations of driver's licenses, intended for conversion to Japanese driver's licenses, the fees are as follows:
New fee: ¥6,600(10% consumption tax included)
Previous fee: ¥6,000(tax-exempt)
- ※For people holding licenses issued by Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, or Taiwan who only want to drive vehicles in Japan temporarily, the issuance fee will remain unchanged. Please select the purpose of use when applying.
- ※Please refer to “3. Issuance Fee” for the fee table.
【Approximate Time Required】
- 1.Japanese translations of driver's licenses issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, and Taiwan, as well as Chinese translations of Japanese driver's licenses.
Average: 2–3 business days - 2.Countries or regions other than those listed in Section 1.
Average: 5-10 business days

Weekdays 10:00-17:00. Applications can be submitted online 24/7. Issuance is processed during business hours only.
Inquiries received on weekends, public holidays, or during the Year- End and New Year holidays will be answered on the next business day or later.
Applications are only accepted from within Japan.
