To apply for a translation of their driver’s license
[Revision of Translation Issuance Fees]
To maintain and further improve our services, the issuance fees for Japanese and Chinese translations will be revised as follows, effective April 1, 2026 (Wednesday).
We kindly ask for your understanding.
(1) Japanese translation of a foreign driver’s license
New fee: JPY 6,000 (previous fee: JPY 4,000)(Tax Exempt)
(2) Chinese translation of a Japanese driver’s license
New fee: JPY 7,000 (previous fee: JPY 4,400)(Including 10% Consumption Tax)
Application for a Japanese translation can only be made in Japan.

- Switch to a Japanese driver’s license.
- Drive with a Japanese translation attached to your license
(issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, or Taiwan). - Drive with an International Driving Permit (IDP)
