To apply for a translation of their driver’s license
Our company's translation issuance fees will be adjusted, effective July 1. We kindly ask for your understanding.
For translations of driver’s licenses, intended for conversion to Japanese driver’s licenses, the fees will be as follows:
New fee: ¥6,600 (10% consumption tax included)
Previous fee: ¥6,000 (tax-exempt)
- For people holding licenses issued by Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, or Taiwan who only want to drive vehicles in Japan temporarily, the issuance fee will remain unchanged. Please select the purpose of use when applying.

Application for a Japanese translation can only be made in Japan.
Please upload unmodified images of your national driver's license.

- Switch to a Japanese driver’s license.
- Drive with a Japanese translation attached to your license
(issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, or Taiwan). - Drive with an International Driving Permit (IDP)
