To apply for a translation of their driver’s license

Applications for translation documents are accepted online only. Applications cannot be submitted at the counter or by mail. For information on driving procedures, application procedures, payment methods, printing methods, etc., please refer to “STEP.1” and “STEP.2”below. 1. Japanese translations of driver’s licenses issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, and Taiwan, as well as Chinese translations of Japanese driver’s licenses. Average: 2–3 business days 2. Countries or regions other than those listed in Section 1. Average: 5–10 business days.

Our company's translation issuance fees will be adjusted, effective July 1. We kindly ask for your understanding.

For translations of driver’s licenses, intended for conversion to Japanese driver’s licenses, the fees will be as follows:
New fee: ¥6,600 (10% consumption tax included)
Previous fee: ¥6,000 (tax-exempt)

  • For people holding licenses issued by Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, or Taiwan who only want to drive vehicles in Japan temporarily, the issuance fee will remain unchanged. Please select the purpose of use when applying.

Application for a Japanese translation can only be made in Japan.
